In the 1970s, Beacon House, nestled in Leinster Square, Bayswater, London, functioned as a hostel for young individuals venturing to the city for employment. It offered a haven of safety and security, serving as an ideal launching pad for newcomers to the bustling metropolis. These images spotlight a friendship group of young women residing in the hostel, curated from a broader picture set.
The inspiration for the title stems from a member of the group seen reading “The Womenโs Room,” a seminal feminist novel authored by Marilyn French and published in 1977.

In past years, the annual tulip flower festival in Bowral, New South Wales, was heralded by early morning road races and a lively community parade along Bong Bong Street.
The parade garnered robust attendance and appeared to enjoy strong backing from the locals. Nevertheless, it has ceased to occur. These images capture a glimpse of spectators and local organisations participating in the final two Tulip Time Parades of 2017 and 2018.
