Jumping spider, Salticid spider with clutch of eggs being manipulated by the chelicera and pedipalps. On Honeysuckle leaf. Salticidae species.
These are very active diurnal hunters, with individual species often specialising in a particular prey animal and stalking/ambush technique. It has been seen that in stalking their prey these spiders sometimes take very circuitous routes, often out of the sight their target such as a long detour from one bush down to the ground, then up the stem of another bush.
Southern Highlands, NSW, Australia
Identifying features include the cephalothorax (head and the thorax fused together) and the pattern of 8 eyes, particularly the prominent median pair.
