Common Hawthorn, Crataegus monogyna. Red berries and green leaves on mid sized tree. Southern Highlands, NSW, Australia. Commonly used as a treatment in traditional herbalism and also in culinary purposes. The fruits are edible but more usually made into jams or jellies. Petals and leaves can be used in salads. Native to Europe, parts of N. Africa and W. Asia it's an exotic species in Australia often found in cultivated gardens but also as escaped specimens in bushland areas.
