Peter is a photographic documentarian. In the 1970's he studied photography at the Swansea College of Art, South Wales followed by a 22 year career in London as a professional photographer specialising in applied and scientific photo imaging. However the fiofoto.com image bank is a personal portfolio, a private record. Some are opportunistic snaps, others more carefully considered photographs but either way they are merely an attempt to visually document what was observed - given the constraints of what a camera sees.
Peter has previously supplied images to Octopus Publishing Group, London (Fauna Britannica), Hodder & Stoughton, Marie Claire and a range of other magazines and publishers.
Now living in Australia Peter continues making new images in addition to the not insignificant task of scanning a large archive of Kodachrome transparencies and black and white negatives. As this project progresses new images will be added to the fiofoto.com image bank and made available as prints. Some images may also be licenced by professional photo stock users under a managed rights licence.
Locations include UK, Europe, N. Africa, Cuba and Australia. Subjects include community, urban and environmental matters through to more pictorial images.
The material specificity of analogue images is preferred, but ultimately whatever instrument comes to hand becomes the tool of choice.
